great bread, saves money, eating healthy
By Jake1455
1. It is easy to use. it does most of the work for you. The main thing is, follow the directions. Use exact amounts, IE measure with the correct containers, and you can't go wrong.
2.The bread comes out great. No chemicals or preservatives. Super home-made healthy taste you will notice. But note this: the bread is often not as sweet as store bread. It tastes a little different, so don't expect the exact same taste as you get in the store. Whether you like the bread or not is a matter of taste. The bread it makes is healthy and a little less sweet and more fresh.
3.the biggest loaf I reccomend it 1.5 lbs and not 2lbs despite the machine's advertised ability. I have not yet tried a 2lb loaf, but, the 1.5 lb loaf just about fills up the pan. Some jam recipes from sources other than this model's booklet can overflow the pan. Stick to 1.5 lb recipes as a max. The jam it makes is the "best jam I ever had".
4. cleaning takes 20 seconds.
5. saves money and prevents rip-offs.
6. Read the entire manual BEFORE you make any bread.
7.Takes some 3 hours to make a loaf.
8.Fresh bread with no chemicals, like the bread this machine makes, only stays good for about 3 days. Past that it will get stale. The breads with more starch (like whole wheat) will get stale faster as the starch crystallizes. A plastic bag tied off works better than a breadbox in staleness prevention.
So if you want healthy fresh bread, buy this beaut and you can't go wrong.

Only okay, don't recomment for heavy use.

This is my second bread machine, I wore out my old Black and Decker a few years ago. (Motor gave out.) I was in a hurry and wanted an affordable replacement, which is exactly what I got. I've used my Breadman machine quite a bit now, although only for bread and yeast dough, since I'd rather make jam on my stove.
1) You really have to remember to warm your liquids first for any sort of bread. Around body temperature is about right, I just microwave my milk or whatever for a minute first. This helps you get bread that actually rises, instead of paperweights.
2) If you like to make doughs with a low water content and high gluten content (like pizza) this might not be a strong enough machine for you. I've worn out either the paddle or the post it sits on, and now find other reviews stating the same problem. Since I can hear it struggles more on the pizza dough than, say, cinnamon rolls, I believe this exacerbates the problem
3) Lately I find that some of the lubricant on the moving parts of the bread pan would leak a little onto my bread/dough. I think that it's a sign of the generally poor workmanship on the pan, and definitely not a nice feature.
So in other words, you get what you pay for. If you're going to be making a lot of bread you might want to consider investing in a better quality machine.

BreadMan -- Good Bread, Fast!
By Kelly Berman
I never thought I would own a breadmaker, especially now with the "evil carbs" craze that America seems to be having these days. However, with a super $30 deal, it was definitely an impulse "why not" purchase. I have to say, the bread is pretty good and pretty easy to make! For our first try, we bought a regular old white bread machine mix at the grocery store and gave it a whirl. The directions are fairly easy to follow, and we used the "super rapid" mode so we could have it ready in an hour (we're impatient). It came out pretty well! Since then we have been more patient and used the longer cycles and the bread is even better. Also, the machine has a "dough mode" which you can use just to make cookie or pizza dough which I find pretty cool. It is really fun to watch the machine through the clear glass window at the top -- first mixing, then kneading, then baking. Neat-o!
A few gripes and some user tips: make sure you read ALL of the directions before you use it. We followed the "step by steps" the first time and then turned the page only to find out (when it was already too late) we were supposed to do something different for "super rapid" mode that we did not do. The breadpan lives up to its "nonstick" description -- just be aware you cannot put it in the dishwasher. Another note is that the display and programming could be a little more high tech, but that's not TOO big of a deal if you ask me, especially at the price we paid! I would give it 5 stars, but only if you could always find it on sale!
