Unit has three shelves. Bottom one does not work. Called customer service and was told that is how it is designed. Bit amazed that with only three shelves, one was built to not be used. Also it claims to have three different temp zones, however they are not independently controlled. Change temp in one zone and it changes temp in all three. Much better products out there for the money. Customer service call was a waste of time.

By J. Geib
Going on a few months now, and we're finding this a great addition to our bar. The wine is kept at a great temperature, and the drinks on the top shelf are nice and cold at 37 to 39 degrees. I have read reports of this fridge not maintaining temperature, and a few factors could contribute to this. Improper installation (Not enough clearance for air flow), ambient temperatures and of course simply a bad compressor/temp sensor.
Our unit has performed well maintaining temperature, usually right at 37 degrees, 44 for the second shelf used for white wines, and 57 for the bottom shelf with reds. Not ideal temperatures, but better than a regular fridge or the counter top for us. On occasion the coldest section will rise in temperature before the compressor starts, which can result in temperatures between 39 and 44 degrees momentarily. Not long enough to cause any issues. Apparently this is an issue with all wine refrigerators based on reviews I've been able to find.
The looks are elegant, and the functionality is almost perfect.
One flaw, which hasn't affected us too much, is the design of the bottom shelf. It barely pulls out, while sticking to the sides. It is designed to not pull out except for a few inches, which makes putting wine on it a pain. It can be pulled out all the way, but it is cumbersome, as one has to lift it in the back over a bump to pull it out, and it is not smooth at all.
That being said everything else is great. The two upper wooden shelves look good (can be stained), and pull out nicely. Large bottles of wine will not fit on these shelves, but normal wine bottles fit fine.
Small cans of drinks are best for the metal shelf in the upper section of the fridge. 3 liter bottles fit, as well as other large bottles/cartons of drinks including milk, but they will block whatever is stored behind them.
Kitchenaid is stuck with the height given the standard under-counter height in kitchens, and they've done well with the size restriction.
Bottom line, this beverage center looks and functions well other than that damn bottom shelf! (We don't store enough wine for it to be a huge issue in our home.)
5 stars if that bottom shelf was on brackets and smooth.

i have owned this one for 3 1/2 years now, bought one for our son and d-i-l as an anniv./Christmas gift, and now have ordered this exact one for our new residence. it is a wonderful addition to our kitchen and entertainment needs! granted, the bottom pull-out rack is a little tough, but you won't pull it out onto your foot!
it is set for cold beverages, white wine and red wine temps. can't beat that! it also saves space from having to keep beverages in the refridgerator... and keeps the entertaining away from the working kitchen space! we have had zero issues with this brand and our units. also, there's an interior light that you can leave on during entertaining, if you wish. just don't leave it on continuously, as it adds heat to the area and will affect pre-set temps. enjoy!
