This pastry blender is awesome, much sturdier and more comfortable to use than others I have had, the cleaning tab is awesome, this is really the reason I ordered this as I was always trying to use my fingers or a knife to clean out the blades as I was cutting shortening or butter into dry ingredients. One slide of the tab and you have clean blades to keep working with. Have only used it once but by the feel and looks of it I expect it to last a long time.

Never used one of these before until now so unable to compare it with others. Works a lot better and faster than the fork I was using. The little device to get dough out of the grooves - so, so; could live with or without it. Wouldn't buy it for that feature alone. All in all - glad I purchased. Makes Scone making so much faster.

I ordered this pastry cutter because the reviews were generally positive. I use my pastry cutter a lot, both for pie crusts and to chop things I'm frying like when I'm browning hamburger. After years of loyal service, my existing pastry cutter wasn't holding up to the task, and I wanted a replacement that was pretty rugged. This does not fit the bill. The blades are thin and bend easily. Some of them even came slightly pre-bent. I didn't have a lot of hope for the blade cleaner, but it is even worse than I expected. It doesn't actually go between all of the blades, so it doesn't clean the outer blades at all. The blade cleaner doesn't easily detach like I hoped, either. On top of it all, the handle is a little narrow for a man's hands. On the plus side, it has good depth, and the blades are far from your knuckles. I ordered an Oxo pastry cutter, and I am much happier with it. It's solidly built and comfortable. I should have gone with my initial instinct and gotten it in the first place.
